Labor Day Hike on Mt. Lassen

Hello Friends,
We have been so busy with work, life, and mission stuff this summer that we haven't been able to spend much time together outside the day-to-day stuff at home. So we made it a priority to do something this Labor Day and went on a day hike together up Mt. Lassen and wanted to share some pictures with you. It was a pretty strenuous  hike and really wore us out. We didn't make it to the summit because the trail was closed about 1/2 way up for some repairs. We would really like to go again once the trail is opened up and get to the top for a 10,000 ft high 360 degree view of the northern end of CA. We had a great time (in between all of our panting :) and drove to a nice little spot afterward for a creek-side picnic lunch of a delicious PB&J (peanut butter and jelly) sandwiches. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Oh yeah, real mature hon!  :)
I think its Shadow Lake but not sure
This was the extent of the wildlife we saw, well that a few birds and some bugs that sound like Rainbird sprinklers!
I think this is Horseshoe Lake
At the top! well as far as the trail was open, actually one more mile and about another 1,000 ft. gain
 Our late afternoon lunch spot
Really could it get better? I don't think so.... ;)

Thanks for coming by. I hope you enjoyed this little blurb about our day. Hopefully we will see you again soon and see what the next pages of life brings our way. ~Jake~
